Chainless World Grand Prix

From Traveler Brian Nixon
I’ve been in New Mexico and Colorado this week. I was 8 miles outside of a place called Crested Butte when I came upon a line of stopped cars. As we stopped, a forest ranger came up with a man in a skin tight body suit and a luchador mask. We were informed that there was about to be the “chainless world grand prix.” The participants take the chains off their bikes and coast the 8 miles into town and they dress like they’re trying to get on “Let’s Make a Deal” or something. One guy wasn’t dressed at all. At the end of the 8 miles there is beer and fun for everyone. I got a picture of the “ref” at the top of the trail and the others are from the bottom. Keep in mind that all of these people had just coasted 8 miles on bikes dressed EXACTLY as you see them. ENJOY!!!

Below is the ref for the day's events.

Pancreatic Cancer Walk

Listener Paul Spataro has a special request. Please read below.

Back in 2004, I lost my brother, Michael, to Pancreatic Cancer. That summer I found out about the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer and have walked in their Long Island Fundraiser each summer. I've been pretty successful in my fund-raising efforts, largely due to the generosity of friends and family. However, each year, I try to expand the scope of my message.

Last year, several of you were kind enough to promote my efforts on your podcasts and I'm writing to see if you can help me get the word out this year.

This year's walk is on July 25th. This is the link to our "Team Page."

Thanks for your consideration.
Best wishes,
Paul Spataro
